Submission Guidelines

Submissions

Articles may be submitted either for print publication (open to all current students at any college or university) or for online publication (open to current UChicago students only.) All submissions should be emailed to chicagojournalfp@gmail.com.

Guidelines for Print Journal Submissions

Content

  • Content pertaining to the period from 1950 to the present is strongly preferred.
  • All citations should be provided in the Chicago style, with running footnotes and a separate bibliography listing all pieces cited. (An online version of the Chicago Manual of Style can be found here, and is also available to UChicago undergraduates through the library catalog.)
  • If appropriate, one or more legally usable images, maps, or figures should be attached to all submissions. Legally usable media would include those in the public domain, available under a Creative Commons license, or includable as fair use.

Format

  • Print journal submissions should run between 2000-2500 words (not including bibliography.)
  • Word Documents (.doc/.docx) are strongly preferred

Guidelines for Online Journal Submissions

Content

  • Content should pertain to events of the past 5 years.
  • All citations should be provided in the Chicago style, with running footnotes and a separate bibliography listing all pieces cited.
  • If appropriate, one or more legally usable images, maps, or figures should be attached to all submissions. Legally usable media would include those in the public domain, available under a Creative Commons license, or includable as fair use.

Format

  • Online journal submissions should run between 500-1500 words (not including bibliography.)
  •  Word Documents (.doc/.docx) are strongly preferred.
